Our parish’s Office of Evangelization and Faith Formation is available for children who need sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. According to diocesan guidelines, this is a two-year program. Here at Assumption Parish, a child usually begins in the first grade and celebrates First Eucharist in May of the second grade. Children in the second grade and above who have not begun preparing for the celebration of this sacrament are invited to participate in our parish program.
Our parish’s First Communion Program takes place on Sundays. It involves the entire family (parents, the child/ren preparing to celebrate First Eucharist, other siblings needed Faith Formation) and includes three essential elements: Participation at the 9:30 a.m. parish mass with your family; breakfast with the other families who are enrolled in the Sunday program; breakup into various groups/classes designed for the children as well as the adults. The Sunday session ends around noon.
For additional information contact our director, Mary Beth Scott (631-588-6408 ext. 124) or by email, MScott@abvmcenterach.com.
Classes for students, grades 3 through 6, take place during the week. Depending upon the availability of a catechist, the classes usually take place on Monday, Tuesday, or Saturday.
