FUNERAL

Celebrating a person's life should reflect our belief that through Jesus Christ, we have life beyond this one. Our Assumption Parish Family offers the Rites of Christian Burial, providing comfort for the living and grace-filled support for the deceased.

When the parish is informed by the funeral director that a funeral liturgy needs to be scheduled, Deacon Mike reaches out to the deceased's family. He discusses the liturgy and explores ways the parish can assist during this difficult time.

If you have made arrangements with a funeral home, kindly fill out the following forms to help us prepare for the funeral Mass.

You can always call us at 631-585-8760

This is a two-part form.

Form Part I – Information about the deceased and the family

Form Part II – Funeral Mass - to select Scripture Readings, and Hymns.

Can we offer a eulogy?

Words of Remembrance (commonly known as a eulogy) may be offered only if there has not been a wake service for the deceased. In this case, a family member can prepare a brief text to be read before the Funeral Mass begins. If you are requesting permission for Words of Remembrance, please call 631-585-8760 to obtain approval.

*Please refrain from asking to “say a few words” on the day of the Funeral Mass, as this places the priest or minister in an uncomfortable position.
