This year, the Church is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi. In recognition of this significant milestone, the Catholic Church has declared a special Jubilee year in his honor. A Jubilee is a time for reflection and a deeper commitment to one's faith.

The Assumption Parish had held a Blessing of the Animals probably long time ago.  Assumption has not held a Blessing of the Animals in recent memory. This tradition, inspired by St. Francis of Assisi—who is known for his deep love for all of God's creatures—is celebrated on his feast day, October 4th. The event honors his teachings about kindness and respect for animals. People are invited to bring their pets to participating parishes for blessings, acknowledging the bond between humans and animals and recognizing them as gifts from God. This ceremony reflects St. Francis's belief in the harmony of all living beings and their connection to the divine.

Therefore, I invite you to bring your animals of all kinds for a special blessing on Sunday, October 4th, at 3:00 PM. Please ensure that all pets are kept on leashes or in cages for their safety and the safety of others.
